For giving a VESA mount to a mountless S2440L, it does it's job. The mount locks in the same what the basemount does, but the gap between the mount & lock creates a little wobble. Also, plug your HDMI & AC in before installing, as attempting to do so after will involve many four-letter words... But if you're in a pinch and are looking to mount this particular monitor rather than buy a new one, this is your champion.
The fitment into the monitor slot was a bit loose however still usable. If one doesn't need to regularly move the monitor it'll be fine. For me this bracket does the job.
I thought I'd have to buy new monitors since mine didn't come with VESA mounts, hence why I'm here. Love that people take the time to make these type of innovative solutions. Product is well made and worked great with my VESA mount. Happy I didn't have to buy new monitors! Monitors are Dell S2340L for those wondering for compatibility.
It would appear that this adapter is machined properly to fit very snugly, but then painted. Actually getting it into my s2340l was a struggle, which made me worry for the safety of the monitor itself. With that behind me, I went about mounting this adapter to a VESA plate (from the same manufacturer!). The included thumb screws would barely thread in, and the phillips head would strip immediately. I ended up using different bolts entirely. With everything assembled, I mounted the setup on a VESA arm, and the sheer amount of wobble was incredible. Certain versions of this adapter have an additional screw at the top to support the top of the monitor, which would probably help mitigate some of this.I was finally able to get the entire setup acceptably stable by cramming an air intake component from my Volvo between the adapter plate and the monitor, go figure. It's a nicely machined piece, but its design leaves it cumbersome to install and unacceptably wobbly, which is unfortunate. If there was no senseless, massive gap between the VESA plate and the adapter "fork", a lot of the wobble would be addressed and it wouldn't be so needlessly restricting in depth.
This adapter was ok. I didn't like the fact the I had to tap the adapter into the monitor. The adapter was a very tight fit.
